The City of Denton currently encompasses a landmass of 87 square miles and is situated north of the DFW metroplex where Interstate 35 E and 35W intersect.   According to the U.S. Census 2007 estimate and City of Denton figures, the City has a population of 115,506 with a population density of 1,327.7 persons per square mile.

According to U.S. Census Bureau, the City had a 2007 population estimate of 115,506 and was ranked in the top ten of the fastest growing cities in the nation.   The City of Denton experienced an increase in growth from 2000 to 2007 at a rate of 43.4% compared with county and state rates of  41.4% and 14.6%, respectively.
